
REGULATIONS
1. ORGANIZER
Shanghai Sports Federation under the auspices of Chinese Wushu Association.
2. AIM
The World Grand Wushu Festival has been held successfully for six times and has exerted a certain influence upon the world wushu circles. It will be organized continuously every other year so as to introduce Chinese wushu to the world, display wushu with characteristics of various countries and regions, exchange wushu skills extensively, study wushu together and raise its standard.

5. EVENTS
COMPETITION EVENTS
   A. Quan:
      a. Changquan (conforming with the competition routines adopted by

         International Wushu Federation)
      b. Nanquan (conforming with the competition routines adopted by

         International Wushu Federation)
      c. Traditional quans: categories 1, 2, 3 (including form-and-will quan,

         eight-extreme quan, eight-diagram palm, ape’s back and forelimbs quan,

         cut-row circle quan, lying ground quan, rouquan and various

         pictographic quans such as mantis quan, monkey quan and eagle’s talons

         quan)
   B. Weapons:
      a. Long weapons: spear, cudgel and nan cudgel (conforming with the

         competition routines adopted by International Wushu Federation)
      b. Short weapons: broad sword, sword and nan sword (conforming with the

         competition routines adopted by International Wushu Federation)
      c. Traditional weapons: single weapon, double weapons and soft weapons,          including taiji sword, monkey cudgel, shaft sword, handle broad sword,

         tipsy sword, long-tassel sword, double swords, double hooks, double

         swords with long tassel, double swords with short tassel, double whips,          broad sword and whip, nine-section whip, three-section cudgel, meteor          hammer, etc..
    C. Sparring:
        Barehanded duel, weapon duel, barehanded against weapon (for each group,       no more than three persons and only one person-time of assistant training       is allowed)
EXHIBTION EVENTS
   A. Quan:
      a. Changquan
      b. Nanquan
      c. Traditional quans
   B. Weapons:
      a. Long weapons: spear and cudgel
      b. Short weapons: broad sword and sword
      c. Traditional weapons: single weapon, double weapons and soft weapons,       including taiji sword, monkey cudgel, shaft sword, nan sword, nan cudgel,       handle broad sword, tipsy sword, long-tassel sword, double swords, double       hooks, double swords with long tassel, double swords with short tassel,       double whips, broad sword and whip, nine-section whip, three-section             cudgel, meteor hammer, etc..
   C. Group Events: fundamentals, quan or weapon (more than 6 persons)
   D. Special Events: participating teams can make demonstrations with

                         features of their own countries.
TAIJI QUAN
         Participants shall be divided into two groups according to their ages,       i.e. Senior Group (born before December 31, 1955) and middle Age Group       (born after January 1,1956).
      A. Competitive Events
          a. Taiji quan: composite style taijiquan, competitive Yang, Chen, Sun              and two different Wu styles, as well as traditional Yang, Chen, Sun              and Wu styles (no special rules on the traditional quans).
          b. Taiji sword: competition taiji sword
      B. Exhibition Events
          a. Taiji quan: 24-style and 42-style taijiquan, Yang, Chen, Sun and              two different Wu styles, (both competitive and traditional styles).
          b. Taiji weapons: competitive and traditional taiji swords.
SPECIAL DEMONSTRATIONS
         Special demonstrations for following events will be arranged according

      to entry and special competition rules will be attached.
       A. Liangong in 18 exercises
       B. Mulanquan
       C. Karate

DURATION
      A. Duration of Competition Events: conforming to the latest Competition       Regulations of Wushu Routines adopted by International Wushu Federation.
      B. Duration of Exhibition Events:
      Quan and weapons (no more than 2 minutes); taijiquan (no more than 6       minutes); taiji weapons (no more than 4 minutes); group events (no more       than 5 minutes); special events: individual events (no more than 3       minutes) & group events (no more than 5 minutes).

ORDER OF COMPETITION AND EXHIBITION
      A. Order of competition shall be decided by drawing lot after the arrival       of all the teams.
      B. Order of exhibition events shall be decided by the Organizing       Committee.

PLACES ARRANGEMENT
      A. Competition Events: (marks shall not be given to invalid performance):
         Places will be decided respectively according to the results of the          men’s and women’s events:
         If the number of participants is 11 or over, the first six shall be          awarded. If the number is 8-10, the first four shall be awarded. If the          number is 5-7, the first three shall be awarded. If the number is 3-4,          the first two shall be awarded. If the number is 1-2, the event shall          be regarded as an exhibition one and no positions shall be decided.
      B. Exhibition Events: (prizes)
         a. Routine Events: Best Demonstration Prize, Excellent Demonstration             Prize and Demonstration Prize will be decided respectively according             to the results of the events (men and women).
         b. Liangong in 18 exercises, Mulanquan, Karate: the prizes will be             arranged according to these three special competition rules.
ENTRY
      Wushu masters around the world will be invited. No limit to the number of     participants and teams. Each participant can enter for no more than 3

    competition or exhibition events. US$10 shall be charged for each extra one.
    Each team and athlete should bring Health Certificates and Life Accidental     Insurance Certificate (country or region), and if any injury or illness     occurs to an athlete, he or she will take his/her own responsibility.
ENTRY DATE
      Preliminary entry with number of participants and events can be sent to     the Organizing Committee immediately after the Regulations are issued.
      Final entry with the names of participants and events should be sent to     the Organizing Committee no later than February 28, 2006.
FINANCIAL CONDITIONS
      A. Participants shall be responsible for their own international traveling

  expenses.
      B. Each participant should pay US$30 as entry fee.(Each participant can   

  enter for no more than 3 competition or exhibition events. US$10 shall be

  charged for each extra one.)
      C. Anyone who arranges hotel accommodation himself should pay $100 dollars

  for certificate, opening ceremony, farewell party, souvenirs and so on.
      D. The package price is US$60 per day per person for double room and US$90

  for a single room. For those who have special requirements, please contact the

  Organizing Committee.
COSTUMES,APPARATUS AND PROPS
      The costumes, apparatus and props shall be prepared by the participants      themselves.
